The flawless and effortless catwalk statement of any designer, oddly
enough, is carefully contrived to disguise any trace of the blood,
sweat and tears behind the scenes that brought their vision to
fruition. Unfortunately for Louise Goldin,
she had us filming every moment of the months of extraordinary work
that went into the creation of her latest A/W 2009 collection. This
weeks Unravelled installment, Creation/Recreation, charts the essential development of Goldin's ideas, patterns and garments from the sketch through numerous calico
toiles and finally into patterns for sample garments to be knitted by Goldin at her factory in Como.
Each and every stage behind Louise Goldin's extraordinary new
collection for A/W 2009 continues to unfold backwards over ten weekly
episodes in our Unravelled
film series as we pull apart her extraordinary creativity at the seams
through to it's conclusion - ironically, with her very first thoughts
on the collection - in April this year.
